Urban Retreat//Journey to Sattva

A day of yoga and Ayurvedic food

Join a journey not too far from home- we invite you to a full day of yoga and meditation, learning about Ayurveda and Gunas, and enjoying healthy organic food.

08:30 Breakfast and introduction

The journey will start by enjoying tea and porridge while connecting with fellow yogis, continuing with brief introduction to Ayurveda and the three Gunas- states of being within ourselves and in our surroundings.

11:00 Rajas: hot power yoga

As the day turns towards its peak, we’ll practice rajasic qualities of movement and breath- a powerful hot yoga session for all levels.

13:00 Lunch and time for digestion

After freshening up, we’ll enjoy hearty lunch prepared with love and balancing spices. Thereafter you’ll have an opportunity to choose Savasana on your mat, a cup of tea, or a meditative walk outside.

16:00 Tamas: yin yoga

Winding down towards the evening the energy shall shift inwards to practice in slower pace, spending longer time each pose, rounding up with guided Yoga Nidra.

17:00 Sattva meditation and reflection

Tamasic energy will be sent away with balancing pranayama (breathing), guided seated meditation and time for reflection.

18:00 Dinner and Kula

According to Ayurveda, one should breakfast like a prince, lunch like a king and dine like a beggar. This time, however, we may make a slight exception- the evening will be for celebration of our Kula (community) with healthy delicacies to enjoy for dinner.

Please remember:

Respect the space, keep studio neat and clean.

Respect fellow yogis and their personal space; avoid stepping on their mats.

Practices will require a yoga mat, 2 blocks, blanket, bolster and a belt- inform your teacher ahead of time if there’s anything you need to borrow.

You will most likely want to take a shower after the hot power yoga- do pack a change of clothes, towel and your toiletries.

If you have any dietary restrictions, make sure to inform us as soon as you book.

Practicing since 2004 and teaching Yoga since 2014, I keep learning and combining teachings from India, Denmark, Thailand and England. My style is ever evolving as I travel through life. Starting with Iyengar, Hatha and Vinyasa, adding Mindfulness and Yin, I stay curious about the origins of Yoga and the millennia old philosophy, translating the knowledge into more modern interpretation of Asana (pose), Pranayama (breath) and Dhyana (meditation) practice.

Yoga Asana for me is a vessel or a frame, where breath, healing and transformation happens. I use yoga as therapy for understanding the bodymind, and connecting all aspects of being through observation, breath and movement.

Through my studies of yoga, in 2017 I came across Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy and Bodywork, which took my understanding of body, energy, learning and teaching to a hole new plane. Now the journey continues…
